Happy St George's Day to All
Happy St George's Day to All
I thought wishing Her Majesty a Happy Birthday would not be remotely contentious , how wrong I turned out to be . Surely this post will not offend anyone.
Although prefering to be called A Briton , there is no reason why the day should not be celebrated.

Why would anyone be offended by celebrating a Palestinian who is the Patron Saint of England, Egypt, Bulgaria, Aragon, Catalonia, Romania, Ethiopia, Georgia, Greece, India, Iraq, Israel, Lebanon, Lithuania, Palestine, Portugal, Serbia, Macedonia, Syria, Russia and Ukraine?

Whatever next?
He would be one of the first on Theresa May's deportation list, no doubt

Re: Happy St George's Day to All
I am glad we agree.
Most Patron Saints International. Andrew for example.
I believe we have Edward the Third to thank for changing our Saint from Edward the Confessor to George. Not sure why he did except that he was a warrior King and Edward did not fit that profile.
Happy St G's day to All. Even smarmy Salmond.
Just seen predictable tirade from MWAV. No comment required.

Happy St George's day to all

Re: Happy St George's Day to All
Well my hospital canteen looked a little like a BNP meeting today when I walked in!
Noticed Foxes had a "free sausages and mash whilst stocks last" sign out this morning so think they are definately celebrating it in some way shape or form. Only been in twice but friendly enough, decent prices, pool table, darts, a couple of dogs I seem to remember and a little outdoor area. What more could you want

Happy St George's Day to you too Eagle.
I'm half Welsh so also note - rather than celebrate St David's Day. But for me it was living in Barca where they do the most lovely thing on St George's day. The man buys his lady a rose and the lady buys the man a book. Something me and Mrs G have bought back with us - we met there some 10 years ago.
I do wish people didn't belittle the celebration of our patron Saint and the English flag just because some idiots use it wrongly.

No offence or belittling intended G-man and sincere apologies if offended by my comment.
Was just an off hand observation about the (unfortunate) feeling one gets when walking into a arena coated in st.georges flags.
I personally am not a great celebrater of anything really (not even birthdays) but can appreciate the reasons why people celebrate certain events. Therefore a happy st.georges day to all and apologies again to G-man or anyone else who felt my comment belittled today/the flag etc.
