What is the connection between these two individuals.

As someone already stated unless D Brooks Esq can refute suggestions he does not want Tanzania , sorry Zanzibar , closed down , then will not get my Vote.

I have no idea about any connection. I also can't possibly imagine Eagle voting for a party with Liberal in their name

I happened to speak to Duwayne shortly after he posted on Sydenham Town Forum and he reaffirmed what he wrote at the time:

The reason for voting against is because of the legal advice given. I sympathize with all the residents who have suffered due to the early morning opening of this club. The fact is when they go to Court they are more likely to win than lose their appeal.

I made a suggestion that we impose a condition forcing the club owner to employ extra staff to patrol the roads close by the club to ensure the issues mentioned were tackled. The advice was this was not enforceable.

I also made the suggestion we reduce the opening hours down to 4am as a gradual start to eventually reduce them down to 2am if the issues complained about continued. I was out voted.

To reduce the club hours down to 2am in one huge jump will have massive financial implications for the club. As advised, this alone will be a huge advantage at their appeal. We were also advised the club is not responsible for patrons who walk 100m away and urinate in gardens.

It has now been confirmed that there will be an appeal. What what Duwayne says, the guidance from officers was that the reduction to 2am may increase the likelihood of them winning on appeal, and no change in hours being implemented. The result of the appeal will prove whether Duwayne and officers were being too cautious, or realistic about the chances of any appeal.

I have little doubt that 2am is quite late enough for this nightclub, especially under the current management. But having challenged Duwayne on this subject, and then seeing the appeal being made, I think his explanation is a valid one.

I doubt any councillor will publicly state that they want to see a business closed down (which has not been the position of the majority of local people), especially if they are on the licensing committee and have to make reasonable judgements about such matters.

I have avoided all extremists like Greens and UKIP etc .

Whilst I appreciate your defence of the good gentleman , the question surely needs to be asked who the hell gave permission in the first place to open until 5am.

Greens are politically and policywise where Old Labour was and you voted for Old Labour.

My apologies Eagle. It was meant as a little joke, not really a guide to you voting intention, but it is a bit of a silly thing to joke about with an election coming up. You are of course welcome to vote for any of the parties. And you will know better than I if you still get to vote in Lewisham elections as I heard you moved to Beckenham.
