2014 at Dacres Wood Nature Reserve

Post by Tim Lund »

Just to say that this year we're again going to be opening the reserve up on the last Saturday of each month - starting this month, April 26th, 1.00- 4.00 pm.

As well as just showing you around - or letting you look round by yourselves - most months we're also hoping to organise a special event - the current plans being
  • May 31st- Teddy bear’s picnic
  • June 28th – TBA
  • July 26th – Creepy Crawlies day (bug collecting etc)
  • August 30th – a tree survey, to learn about the different trees in the nature reserve and map them out
  • September 27th – looking at container gardening and hopefully a new irrigation system for the raised beds
  • October 25th – building bird boxes ready for 2015
I'm going to be organising the tree survey - and not just trees, in fact - and it's possible we'll bring it forward to June.

Any help - and potentially for other events if you're interested - welcome, so contact the Friends via our web site, PM me or email me if you have my email address.

Thanks very much for the post. I may take you up on the offer :-). It's not something I would have considered, but if the weather is good, then it would be great to see the open spaces (and wildlife) of Sydenham! :)

Have been a few years ago and very interesting , as is the Devonshire Rd nature reserve which was only 3 mins from my old Flat.

Great we have these green areas.
