We need a health and safety advisor to help ensure the health and safety of the Festival participants and attendees.
From late April to early May, the Festival Health and Safety Advisor will liaise with the Festival Director, the Technical Manager and the Volunteers Manager, to produce risk assessments and method statements for major events, inspect prospective venues, liaise with potential performers over health and safety requirements of their performances, and work with the Volunteers Manager to induct new volunteers. During the three weeks of the festival (dates), we need someone who can attend major events and carry out spot checks on some ticketed events, also ensure that risk assessment requirements are made known to relevant people, and first aid and found children documentation is supplied to venues.
Key skills – we need a good communicator, with organizing and administrative ability, some knowledge of health and safety legislation as applied to public events, theatre arts, and outdoor events, including knowledge of safeguarding, and of fire, electrical and equipment safety. Must be prepared to understand and implement the
Festival’s policies including equality and diversity, and safeguarding (child protection). Good interpersonal skills and a flexible attitude are needed, and a reasonable level of physical fitness.
Qualifications and experience
Minimum – NEBOSH Certificate. Ideally some experience of working with the public, with an arts or hospitality organization or in community activities.
