CAD software for Mac

Post by Nigel »

I was at a loss to decide which part of the forum to post this but wondering if anyone could recommend an easy to use CAD package for mackintosh ?
Basically looking for something that will allow me to create a floor plan and / or 3d view to try moving wardrobes/cupboards/ benches /non-specific objects around a room to plan layout.
The room planner in IKEA would do pretty well but it doesn't work on my iMac.similarly anything similar to the generic kitchen/bathroom software would suit.
I know there are some very tetchy and design people out there .

Health warning : recommendations involving open source/ machine code or changing to PC will not be welcome!

Thank you in advance
A very good evening

I'm not sure how easy to use this is, as I have downloaded it but haven't used it yet. http://www.sweethome3d.com/ It's an open source program for both windows and mac :)

SketchUp is free, Google supported and works on the Mac.

EUSSR
Er....yes but every time I try any it seems not to work for me . basically not interested in the nuts and bolts just want something that is easy .
Tried downloading Sketchup but unfortunately it won't work with OS 10.6.8 .

I might have to go back to graph paper but thanks for the helpful suggestions . If any further ideas that would work with MacOS10.6.8 and what I now learn is an antiquated iMac G5 (made July 2007 and is not upgradeable to the latest Mac operating system.

A very good evening
