How long do you think until the cafe opens?

Not sure right now, but I'm meeting the head of Lewisham's Greenscene on another matter this afternoon, and can get as good a guess as can be published.

Given the commitment being shown here, sorting our this sewer nightmare, there's every reason to think it will be sometime this year. I know we're heard that sort of thing before, but be patient :)

Just to say that the Friends of Mayow Park will be having our AGM in the Bowls Club, Saturday January 25th, from 1 to 1.30pm followed by a general meeting until 3pm. The first part will be a review of what has happened in the last twelve months to include the election of committee members. The second meeting to discuss, among other things, plans for the pavilion and new ideas for the park year would be very much welcomed.

We are very much in need of 'new blood' on the committee. We will need a new Treasurer and would like representatives to fill the following vacancies:
  • Publicity (Facebook, Blog),
  • Families,
  • Sports Liaison,
  • Dog Walkers,
  • Young People.
Although the meetings are structured by having an agenda, they are very informal and they do run to time. If you can spare some time, even half an hour, please come along to listen or have your say.

Here goes. The continuing wet weather adds some uncertainty, but the Council should have finished what it has to do on the pavilion by end March, so toilets will flush and other basic services will be working. From then on the fitting out and timing will depend on the operator chosen. On this, about 40 expressions of interest were received, and about a dozen came to a recent open day, following which the Council will shortly be putting the opportunity to run a café on the site out to tender. The terms will include commitments to providing health meals, local sourcing, etc.

So I'm still going for the first cappuccino to be frothed sometime this year.
