Sydenham, we have a problem!

Post by admin »

The server has just been hit with a load 10,000 greater load than normal. It caused the database driver to give up and go home freezing a lot of the site. Dunno if it was a one off malicious attack or something gone mad. Apologies for any inconvenience. Its recovered but we still have a lot of pressure.

My guess is that it is Tim's workings out and background research for his next post. Seriously hope all restored soon - we will think of you as the Ed Harris character in the Apollo film drowning in coffee and cigarettes whilst you struggle to stabilise the system and our communal nervous system . you do us a great service sir .
A very good evening

A more relaxed look at the logs show no obvious external cause. It looks like a system panic when one action cause a slightly greater reaction quickly building into a crescendo that brought the server down. That's what happens with computers.

Never with real people though so I'm not looking at you Mary & Tim :D

A very good Christmas Nige!
