Hi Poppy,
Garammassalla is opposite the kwikfit on Sydenham Road.
Looking at the menu they serve Quite a wide selection including Pathia, Nawabi and Dhakeswari. The latter being served with fresh mangoes.

That's funny Falkor, I recently had a takeaway from Viva Goa and was quite happy with it. Mind you, I stuck to the Goan dishes, which had lots of complex sweet/sour flavours and where the curry leaves seemed appropriate. The vindaloo was hot of course, but it was also wonderfully sour and had some complexity going on behind the initial chilli blast. The meat quality seemed a lot better than many of the curries I've had locally as well.
As you're a dhansak fan, have you ever been to The Parsee in N19? I think it's one of the only places I've heard of in London that takes pride in the authencity of its dhansak.

I have been a huge curry addict all my life and have enjoyed currys locally, nationally and in india/pakistan . I took my new wife to the Garam Masala last night and the food was superb, in fact it was so good that she ran off with the chef !!! Seriously though, I was very impressed ,it's definately worth a visit and very reasonable prices as well.

I am delighted to find such a friendly website having just moved to sydenham last week from north london.I am having some friends over this weekend and was thinking of taking them to the currey house at the bottom of my road (knighton park road,) but it seems to have very mixed reviews.Should I take them there or somewhere else?
Red Rose was pretty good, but still not in the same league as the ones in Forest Hill AKA Curry town! A special compliment must be made about the way Red Rose prepares their garlic nan bread--layered, with fresh garlic stuffed inside! That's more like it... Usually, most places will just sprinkle some on top. The only other Indian restaurants I've been to where they do proper layered nan bread was in Tooting and Norbury.
