There is a fireworks display at Crystal Palace this year and I wonder whether it will be as spectacular as last year's? Details as follows:

Gates open 5pm
Funfair will be open from 5:00pm - 10:00pm
Fireworks between 7.30 - 8pm
Tickets purchased on the gate. Adults (14 and over) and unaccompanied children £3.00, children £2.00, under 5's free.
Car Parking £2.00

It was like a comedy fireworks display. When there were particularly poor ones people were actually laughing!
I thought the 1 hours hanging around beforehand was the best bit. There was plenty of time to get a hotdog and soak up the atmosphere of anticipation.
Surely there should also be a bonfire? I thought that was the whole point of bonfire night.

Yep, it was so disappointing........
My other half took our daughter, 6 only to wait for an hour in the rain. They had enough and left. Trains weren't running to time either, so they were both upset. In the end we saw them through our window and looked like they only lasted 15 mins!
Was it run by an independent body, or Bromley Council / London Developent Agency? They had to queue up for ages to pay and although it was only £3, it was some cheek!
We'll try Blackheath next year and brave the traffic!

Our three-year-old fell asleep while we waited for the CP ones to start. We had to wake her up when it started and she wasn't that pleased...but she had been so excited about it we thought we should or we would never hear the end of it! 8.30 is just too late for little ones, luckily we had the buggy with us so she could sleep in that but we saw lots of kids asleep on their parents' shoulders. I know they said it was something to do with the wind and they had to repostition them but they told us this ages after the 7.30 start time, with little information generally. It had stopped raining when we were there though - were we in the same place?
I've uploaded the fireworks to Youtube. What a load of shite... listen out for the boos at the end of part 2 and the crappiest grand finale of all-time...

I couldn't be bothered to pull the sound back... I can't be bothered even now to explain why this year's fireworks were so crap.

Glad I didnt bother with Crystal Palace now. After last years debacle when they changed the date at the last minute I decided to go elsewhere. We went to the very good (free) display at Streatham Common on the Friday night. As an added bonus while waiting on Platform 15 at Clapham Junction the following night for a train home, we had a great view of the fireworks being let off at Battersea Park.

If you lived near me, you wouldn't have to go out! You could've watched the lovely (?) kids in the flats next to mine letting off fireworks (which they bought God knows where), and shouting and screaming all over the place - who needs Crystal Palace OR Blackheath with that sort of entertainment just outside their window... ???
