Post by Chris Best »

Sydenham Assembly Fund is £12,500 - closing date for bids is on Monday 11 November under the five priorities below -

1. Bringing the community together – proposals around intergenerational and intercultural activities at the new TNG site, and events that include local groups or those with an elders or youth focus, these could include art, music, drama and sports based. Also ideas for improving communication within and between the communities in Sydenham.

2. Health, Well Being and Community Safety - proposals to increase well being including supporting people to come together who cannot get out as much - these activities could be based in Sydenham library, TNG or various community venues.

3. Vibrant high street - proposals for activities that bring footfall to the high street and that could enhance or compliment the look and feel of the high street including market stalls including a youth market or opportunities to develop an evening economy.

4. Clean and Green - proposals that will help to keep Sydenham streets clean and appealing. This could include the enhancing our new pavements or greening the high street further.

5. Transport - proposals that will assist cyclists and pedestrians

How much is available?
There is £12,500 available for the Sydenham ward in 2013–14 with a capped amount of £2,500 per proposal.

What can it be spent on?
The priorities highlighted have been identified by residents, community groups and local businesses who have attended the Sydenham Assembly Meetings. We want to fund projects that aim to tackle these important issues raised by the local community. The money could be used to start up a project, support a group to develop new activities, or support a larger project that has secured funding from other sources.

How to apply
Email Maya - maya.onyett@lewisham.gov.uk for the proposal form.
Closing date for all proposal forms is 5pm Monday 11 November 2013.
Sydenham Coordinating Group will consider all the proposals on Tuesday 12 November so no late entries.
Voting on projects will take place at the Sydenham Assembly Meeting on Saturday 30th November.
