Three orchards walk

Walk led by Steve Grindlay.
Saturday 19 October.

This Saturday, popular local historian Steve Grindlay will lead a walk to celebrate London Orchard Day. Discover three local orchards and hear Steve talk on the history of fruit in Forest Hill.

Activities for all the family
11.00 am Meet at Forest Hill Station
11.30 am Tree planting at Albion Millennium Green
12.30 pm Visit the orchard at Mayow Park
1.30 pm Refreshments at De Frene Road allotments
I will be involved, planting some of the fruit trees - from the Forest Hill 'Edible High Road' at Albion Millennium Green. I also happen to have just picked about 25kg of quinces

and will be offering them to people who come on the walk. You can't eat them raw, but there are some great recipes with them:
