Funding available for projects that benefit Lewisham communities
The Council is inviting applications for funding from faith and voluntary organisations for the Small and Faith Fund 2013-14.
This fund will enable organisations to deliver small, one-off projects that benefit Lewisham’s communities. Grants of up to £3,000 (or up to £10,000 for partnership projects) are available, and priority will be given to projects that meet the themes of 'building community networks' and 'communities that care'.
Theme 1: Building community networks
Funding under this theme will support activities that bring people together to develop networks of mutual support with the ability to find solutions to community issues and increase involvement.
Theme 2: Communities that care
Funding under this theme will involve activities that support people facing challenges such as social isolation, increasing frailty and declining mental health, including support for older people to maintain their health and wellbeing into their later years.
Speaking at the launch of the Faith Fund on 8 October, Sir Steve Bullock, Mayor of Lewisham, said: “Lewisham’s voluntary groups and faith organisations play an extremely important role in supporting some of the most vulnerable people in our community. As government cuts deepen, I believe it’s important that we continue to support this vital work wherever possible. Again this year, I have allocated £100k which I hope will help those who want to help others help themselves.”
