Less money than previous years, but we are starting the process of making Local Assembly grants, and there are three areas that we are looking to fund:
- The environment
- Activities for the whole community
- Activities for young people
We have £12,500 in total available, with £11,000 to be directed towards above 3 core areas with £1,500 for small grants for any low cost project that meets one of the 5 assembly priorities (maximum bid allowed £300). The aim is to try to encourage new ideas, a good example would be the Trilby Road security mirror. This was purchased a few years ago for a local neighbourhood watch who had genuine concerns about crime / fear of crime on the alleyway.
We will be asking the assembly to divide into 3 groups with each group to discuss a core area, depending on numbers we may have more than one group working on each core area. For each area there will be some examples of possible ideas, some case studies and examples of possible costs. Also on the table will be a proforma which we will want each group to complete, this will form the basis of a project proposal. It will include things such as the idea, it's aims and objectives, what is required etc etc. We would like a Co Gp member to facilitate each table and as stated, the aim is for each group is to come up with a funding proposal.
These will then be collected, worked upon and we can then get organisations to tender to deliver the project at the November assembly.
The group that discusses activities for young people will use the youth survey as a basis for identifying proposals.
