Language Apps

Post by marymck »

I didn't know where to post this, as it's not about Sydenham, but it's not really a pub thing.

Please does anyone have any recommendations for Android apps of language phrase books or translators that can be used offline for a forthcoming trip? Preferably free ones!

I need Danish, Swedish, Estonian, German, Polish and Russian. Russian is probably the most important.

Many thanks.

Danish= gin og tonic
Swedish = gin och tonic
Estonian = gin ja toonik
German = GIN TONIC!
Polish = gin z tonikiem
Russian= Джин с тоником

Good luck with the Russian one Mary!

Have you tried Google Translate? Just to get a few needed words of each language.

Cheers Annie! Looks like I'll be all right in Germany. I just have to do my best Father Jack impression.

I did think about Google translate. But Google virtually take over your phone when you download the app. Even to the extent of them being able to take pictures with your phone's camera without you knowing and to read your private SMS & MMS messages.

That put me off rather.
