Credit where credit is due it feels that good ol' Sydders is on the up at the moment. The soon to be re-opened Cooperative is looking great (I peered in through the window, sad but true) ... I think it'll look a lot more like the East Dulwich one. And that Tescos is much better than the sort of random shops we've been seeing. At least it's a household name. Tidies up the highstreet by just having a decent facia. The highstreet works is also really kicking in now. Once the trees get planted I think it will look much, much better than it's ever done.
And the Sydenham Arts Festival was excellent.
We've got a monthly farmer's market and hopefully the other other shops will up there game. Kente, Blue Mountain and Billings ... and a few others that make an effort all seem busy.
I like the Dolphin (that garden is a godsend on a balmy evening) ... but we need another cool bar at the other end somewhere. That needs to happen soon ... if only Antic had gone for it .. but hey. Here's hoping.
Keep it up Sydenham. It could be your year!
