The steps outside the Sydenham (Naborhood) Centre are very fine; a broad sweep building up as Sydenham Road slopes downwards. Unfortunately, when you are going down Sydenham Road, it is easy to fail to notice that the steps have started and to stumble on them. I have begun to hear anecdotal accounts of people who have fallen and hurt themselves; fortunately not seriously so far.
The rumble strips built into the paving only provide a warning if you are going across the pavement into the centre. I think the edges of the steps should be marked with a different colour to make them more visible. Yellow would be good, but ugly. The dark 'emery board' strips you get at stations would also work.

I did a particularly embarrassing Dick Emery style trip there. I don't know what hurt more, my ankle or my pride.

Re: 'Naborhood' centre steps
I note that the situation has now been improved by the erection of a bike stand, which blocks off the most dangerous route onto the edge of the steps.
