Poor Freeview reception over the last few days?

Post by alywin »

Is it just me, or has Freeview reception become very poor over the last few days, maybe since midweek? I'm frequently getting the picture breaking up very considerably along with what sounds like rather alien "chirping" noises, and sometimes even get a blank screen with "No signal" on it.

I did wonder if this might have something to do with 4G signals being tried out around here, but from what I've read it would seem that houses in the potentially affected area get mail-shotted before the trials begin, and we've had nothing.

I've had poor reception on Sky for the past week - thought it might be the weather. Some channels pixilate, other say there's no reception. Sometimes it's all fine and then it goes again.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention the weather as a possible culprit. This started before the really hot weather did, though, if that's relevant at all.

Sunspots bouncing around the ionosphere can be responsible for many sorts of various natural phenomena:

I remember (many years ago) studying the effects this had on radio wave propogation and topography for my
2 metre radio license - Which I never managed to achieve!

Alternatively it could be; UFO's
Or even more likely - a weaker/low signal transmission!
Whatever has caused it: I bet they'll never confess! :D

Has the reception improved at all this weekend?

I have read the announcements about possible problems with freeview due to 4G.

No idea what to do but good luck. My freeview OK at moment.

That's old news, Eagle, They did tests a few months ago and there is no interference from 4G.

Now you mention it, reception is possibly better at the moment, but then I haven't been watching a lot of TV this week.
