Castle Court, Lower Sydenham - Police on site

Post by Search East »

Hi all,

Any news on what happened yesterday evening at Castle Court, on the corner of Champion Road and Sydenham Road?

Went out at 4 pm and came back at 10 pm yesterday, to see police had taped off the whole main block and not a single light was on bar the stairwells. There were two police vans on site with several officers. It was still taped off this morning at 8 am, with a couple of officers standing guard outside.

Apparently it was a street shooting, so I've heard. Forensics are there gathering evidence but that is all I know.

Oh No , how depressing and sad.

Best wishes to any innocent victims.

I was in home park across the road enjoying the festival when I heard the unmistakable sound of a gun being fired 3 times (I spent time in the forces), when I look over there was a moped on its side: https://www.dropbox.com/s/6bvhb563r8r13 ... .07.41.jpg

Unfortunately when the weather is nice it seems incidents like this happen more often

Maestro , my comment was meant in jest.

House breakins in particular seem all to common in Sydenham recently.

Very sad.

Not as sad as people getting shot outside a family festival.
Unfortunately my first thought was how glad I was that my family weren't there for the Family Fun Day.
My sympathies are obviously with the victim but also all the people in the community working hard to improve Home Park and the library area.

From Lewisham Police Twitter feed -

"There were calls made to police yesterday stating a noise was heard suggesting a shooting had occurred at Champion Rd

Officers attended, thorough checks carried and no one was found injured

Thorough checks were being carried out at the location, no weapons were recovered"

Got back home tonight and had a Police appeals flyer through the door, asking if local people heard or saw anything yesterday evening, due to an incident.

News Shopper also carried a small article that it was a report of what people believed were shots heard, but nothing so far has been found. http://www.newsshopper.co.uk/news/lewis ... _shooting/
