water leak on Bishopsthorpe Rd
As the title - half way along on north side footway, since at least Thursday last! Water 'leaking' from a pipe in the garden wall. Anyone know anything about this?

previous original post was entered on my phone, for various reasons, here is a clearer explanation of chain of events.
as I walked home on Thursday night I saw the water, noticed the leak, and wondered to myself what the cause could have been, variously an overflowing bath, a broken pipe, a leak somewhere, etc. I contemplated knocking on the front door to see if everything was ok inside, but didn't.
I forgot about it by the time I'd got home.
On Friday evening walking home I noticed it again, and stopped to look at the house to see if there was anything obviously wrong - couldn't see anything, but again forgot about it by the time I got home - I was going to post on here that evening or over the weekend.
Monday night walking home, I noticed it again, and am now most concerned, so I remembered to post on this forum when I had time that evening, but due to computer issues, had to post from my mobile phone - so kept the post short.
I've not informed Thames Water, or Lewisham council - but I will do this afternoon if I have time.
The water is running out quite quickly, so would be quite a large leak, and the water flow could be causing subsidence issues.

I've quite often noticed water leaks when out walking the dog, and I always try to remember to register them. It normally takes a couple of walk-pasts for me to remember.
If you go on the Thames Water website, you can both report leaks AND check if existing leaks have been reported. It's quite fascinating, because it gives you a sense of proportion about just how busy the repair teams must be, locally. Which may explain why leaks aren't repaired for a few days.

However, I'm constantly surprised how many people DONT report leaks, even those right on their doorstep. Bearing in mind it normally takes me around 48 hours (or two dog walks) to remember to do so, I can't help wondering just how idle / lacking in any sense of community spirit some of my fellow citizens are.
I bet they're quite happy to moan about leaks, and blast Thames Water for being greedy / incompetent etc - but then can't be bothered to help get problems sorted.

Still leaking. I parked my car next to it this afternoon. It could become a bit of hazard if it freezes.

I first noticed this on my return to work after Christmas, January 3rd.
it could have started before then.
I too reported it on Thames Water website, but as it originates in a residentail property, and not on the public highway, they're not as interested, as they're not liable.
I've just informed the environmental health team at Lewisham Council, and the nice lady on the phone said that she'd send someone round to take a look. I explained that it's probably a leek from the house, but the water is going across the FW and CW, and could cause issues if it freezes in this cold weather.
I'm worried about the owner/occupier of the house - if it was outside my house I would have done something about it by now, and I can't understand the mentality of someone who notices it and lets it continue - there would have to be a very good reason. My initial thought, weeks ago, was that someone had commited suicide in the bath, which was overflowing....

this would appear now to be fixed - or someone turned off the water supply to the house, either way it's not leaking anymore.
