Just had a fab breakfast at Canvas & Cream in F Hill .. my friend (down from North of the river; Archway to be precise) was blown away by the cafe. It was very cool in there. We wandered down to Sydenham past nice bars, little delis and the new swimming pool on the Dartmouth Road and walked through to the brilliant little christmas market in Sydenham Station. And, get this, right, my friend actually uttered the words, 'This feels better than North London' as she boarded the shiny new underground to go back across the river.
Sydenham, Forest Hill. You both made me proud today.
Sorry, does this sound really gushy?

Not a bit of it - I'll go a step further and say that Sydenham impressed a South London boy too.
Imagine my enjoyment today - spot of neighbourly hob-nobing, shoofty round the Jill shop, brilliant experience at the Luketian Museum, very superior sausage roll at the market by the station and finally , found the perfect Christmas tree courtesy of the wonderful Angie , flower-girl supreme , delivered free of charge and bang on time.
To quote Nathalie Merchant and her very agreeable 10,000 maniacs , "these are days"...
Only in Sydenham
A very good evening
