Moving to Sydenham, good idea?

Guys, hello! im new here:)

I'm moving to Sydenhham, or Lower Sydenham ( house is 5 mnts walk to Mayow Park, one of the roads to the east, LS direction). I am young female and always coming home late evenings and I wonder how safe is it down there? Is it easy to get a cab/minicab late at night?

I also just wanted to hear your opinion about the area in general. I can see there are some road works on the high street, do you think it will boost the Sydenham High Road and make it more lively? I will walking down Sydenham Road every evening, so jsut wonder how its going to be there...

I couldnt find anything around upper sydenham so going to end up in Lower sydenham, is there drastic change?

There have been a huge number of threads about the work taking place in the High Street, which the majority of us think will greatly benefit both the feel and the look of Sydenham. It's worth looking through Town Hall for that information

We live down that way and the G-lady finds it all quite safe when walking home from the station. Tend to go to Sydenham late at night rather than Lower Sydenham purely because the roads are better lit. I'd also say walk down the High Road rather than the back way late at night.

We love it here, have been here 5 years now. With all the SEE3 stuff going on I really think it's on the up.

We are in Lower Sydenham too and love it. Yes, do it, move here. Great community, lots going on with things like Sydenham Library, the arts festival etc. We moved here 5 years ago (almost) from Brockley and we love it. It's not perfect, but the difference is here that the imperfect bits local people try to make better.
