Sydenham Police raid nets drugs & firearm ...

Post by admin »

Received from the Met

On Thursday 22nd November 2012 at around 08:30hours, Sydenham Safer Neighbourhoods Team (SNT), assisted by both Forest Hill SNT and Downham SNT executed a Sec 23 Misuse of Drugs Act search warrant at Bayes Close, Sydenham, SE26.

The warrant was executed following intelligence concerning the occupants an the level of anti social behaviour taking place.

During the search officers found items that included a quantity of drugs, scales, bags and a section 5 firearm.

A 26 year old man was arrested for possession with intent to supply and possession of a section 5 firearm and is currently in custody at a South London Police Station.

Police Sergeant Amanda Ritchie from Sydenham Safer Neighbourhoods Team said: "This is an excellent example of how intelligence that we receive from members of the public is acted upon in a robust way. All information received however small, is treated seriously and kept in confidence. I would urge anyone that has any intelligence about anti social behaviour, drugs or other crimes and offenders to come forward and report this to police, your local Safer Neighbourhoods Team or Crimestoppers."

Great news and well done who informed The Police.

Regretably I expect he will be out in a couple of days. I hope I am wrong.

He'll get 5 years for the gun Eagle, may be a bit on top for the drugs, he'll receive no actual help inside and get rubber stamped and dumped out on to the streets to an awaiting life of crime once his time is served. The injustice of our criminal justice system.

Good that he wont be selling any more drugs in that location though and he won't be attracting any more vermin to the immediate area which is nice.

Erm, a section 5 firearm isn't a gun. It's a weapon like a CS spray or a flare.

I'd go with "Isn't necessarily a gun" as the .gov site shows its main purpose is to cover hand guns and automatic weapons. Don't get me wrong, I don't really know anything about guns except my mate has an AK47 with tracer rounds, he took it to his gun club and they went mad at him and told him never to bring it again. Not a section 5, more of a section 20c.

When did anyone die from a CS gassing? surprised that would be on a firearms list as it isn't a firearm. Flares that are fired from a flare gun could be deemed as a firearm, a) because it goes bang, b) because fire comes out of it.
