At about 07:45 today there was a smell of burning, and by 08:15 there were three enormous ambulances and some police cars congregating at the Homecroft Road junction. They stopped our younger daughter getting her car out for work; something she seemed not unhappy about
About midday I had a discrete nose around. There was a policeman outside 21 Homecroft, and some charred rubbish out on the pavement, but no external signs of damage to the properties there. I had been expecting something a bit more spectacular.
