Re: Sydenham skies
Selworthy Road, cycling up from the Pool River
Re: Sydenham skies
Now one reconises it. See even Lower Sydenham has some beauty.
Is it not River Pool rather than Pool River. I am sure , knowing Tim , he is correct ?

Re: Sydenham skies
It's River Pool according to Wikipedia, but Pool River according to the Environment Agency. Dangerously liberal attitide, I know, but I'm happy with eitherEagle wrote:Now one recognises it. See even Lower Sydenham has some beauty.

Re: Sydenham skies
Tim , I was not trying to find fault , only interested why in general the British put the river first , whilst our North American cousins tend to do the opposite.
Minor point I know in the scheme of things. Not sure liberal has much to do with it , but hey that Gladstone gets everywhere.

I know you weren't trying to find fault, and I apologise for teasing you about liberalism - it was a bit strained. I'm also interested by these sorts of linguistic points, even if they are a bit pointless.Eagle wrote:Tim , I was not trying to find fault , only interested why in general the British put the river first , whilst our North American cousins tend to do the opposite.

Incidentally, it was Winsford Road, not Selworthy Road ...

You may not believe me but have voted Liberal and Labour in the past.
I believe The Conservative Party , like Marks and Spencer and The Daily Telegraph are things you grow into about middle age as you get wiser . In my younger days more idealistic but less wise.
