Have Your Say on Policing in London

Post by michael »

The Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) is consulting on London's policing priorities. We are interested in your opinion.

Please take part in a short questionnaire to tell us your views. To complete a questionnaire click on http://www.smart-survey.co.uk/v.asp?i=54757lbrpc

Please feel free to pass details of the consultation on to your friends, family or colleagues.

I've not responded to this because where I'd say London most needs policing is the conduct of our financial services sector, and there is no way this will be seen by the Met as one of its priorities.

I was thinking of this a few weeks ago when I was talking to an investment banker friend about needing to protect the weak and vulnerable. He smiled indulgently, and said the world was ever thus, while happy that there were idealists like me around. I replied to say that, while I don't look as if I could handle physical aggression - and probably couldn't - nonetheless I felt safe to cycle home through the mean streets of Tower Hamlets, Greenwich and Lewisham, thanks to a more or less effective police force that was well focused on protecting the physically vulnerable.

What would it take to have a police force which make it safe for people to save and invest without being exploited. Isn't that what we need most to maintain the position of London as a leading financial centre?

I think everyone should fill in this form, its important that we are actually being asked what our fears/ experiences are, how will they know where / what to target if people go on about bankers etc instead of the everyday running of the police force?
I am sure we have all been affected by the bankers.
