There will be large outdoor screen so you can watch the opening ceremony of something called the olympics for free.

Whatever that is. Never heard of it personally unless they are referring to a cafe in Stratford.

Saturday brings music, dance and song from Lewisham's talented young people. The Lewisham Live festival comes to the Spiegeltent at The Lewisham Big Screen for a great day of music and dance.

12.30-1pm: Animate - a local young musicians' orchestra creating a special piece inspired by the theatricality of the Spiegeltent.

1.30-2.15pm: London Philharmonic Orchestra The Band - lively new music from the young people of LPO The Band followed by a workshop led by Band leader, Tim Steiner.

3.30-5pm: Youth Dance Live showcase a range of dance styles from hip hop to contemporary to break dance.

5.30-8.30pm: Talented young Lewisham musicians bring you musical theatre, jazz, urban and rock.

This is a cultural event linked to the Olympics running on Blackheath until 12 August. I've just come back from singing with the Lewisham Choral Society in the Spiegel Tent (no,I hadn't either) - 'Zadok the Priest', an arrangement of the big tune from 'Finlandia' ('Be still, my soul') and the Hallelujah Chorus (encored by popular demand, so I've absolutely no voice left). Enjoyed watching the beach volleyball on the big screen whilst we were waiting to go on. Food stores, a bar, and there seems to be a funfair just across the heath. Worth a visit, I think.
