Road closures for Torch Relay

Post by Rachael »

I'm finding it difficult to find out exactly how long roads on the Torch route will be closed on the 23rd July. I have an interest as I am driving to Gatwick that morning and need to pass right across the route. I can see the route online, and estimated times for the torch to pass through. But what I really need to know is how long before and after these times the roads will be closed.

Do local residents have any more information?

I think any info's going to be a bit general, but each council that is involved in the relay gets full support from Locog to give as much information as possible for local residence. (always useful having a friend who works for Wandsworth council leisure management to get info on this).

Bromley have the following info:

Thanks for that, Search East. Lewisham have the same info - approximate times for the torch to pass through. Very useful for people who want to see the torch. But nowhere does it give guidelines for how long before that time the roads will be closed, and how long after. That's what I really need to know to plan my route to Gatwick. Do I try to get behind the relay or in front of it?

I wondered if local residents on affected roads had more information.

Gatwick is usually faster, cheaper and more relaxing by train. With no parking or torch issues :)

I knew it wouldn't be too long before someone suggested the train. Not an option for us, unfortunately.
