A young man - red hair, plus, I think, quite a bit of metalwork in the facial area, informally dressed - rang my door bell this afternoon. He flashed what was clearly meant to be an ID card at me (although I wasn't allowed to look at it closely) and said he had some information to pass on to the 'house owner' - was I the house owner? I asked him to tell me first what he was selling. He then got a bit aggressive - how do you know I'm selling anything? - but refused to identify himself unless I told him whether or not I was the house owner, which I contined to decline to do. In the end he stalked off in a sulk, saying 'OK,OK, no need to get in a state about it, have a nice day anyway'.
Someone to treat with circumspection, I suggest.

Re: Suspicious caller in upper Sydenham
I've now spoken to my neighbour and ascertained that this is the same outfit (but now trading under a different brand name) as the 'Red Ball' company discussed some time ago on the SE23 forum http://www.se23.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=3851 - indeed it looks as if my red-headed charmer is the same one that Roz reported there.
