Hi
Just wanted to share with you the Streetcar car sharing service I have been using recently. They have a VW Golf based next to the Forest Hill train station, which you can book in half-hour steps. Saved me a lot of hassle for some shopping trips!
I especially like that you can book the car online 24/7, and absolute freedom as to how long you need/want it. They charge you based on the duration and length of trip, and their rates are fairly competitive with traditional car hire services. minus the hassle of all the paperwork each time you want to hire a car.
Their website is www.streetcar.co.uk
Has anyone else here used them recently? If so, what are your experiences with the service?
I would love to see a Streetcar be based in Sydenham, at the moment its a 15 minute walk for me to get to the car, as I am living in Queenswood Road.

I've not used this but it is a great idea. If anyone else is interested then log on to
http://www.streetcar.co.uk/get_streetcar.aspx
and request a streetcar in Sydenham. Even if you need to keep one car, it would be handy to use as an occasional second car.

I have already asked them for one in Sydenham, the reply I got was that they need a parking space for the car!
I personally don't have one, but there must be Users on here in Sydenham that have spare car parking spaces to offer (for a fee I imagine), if so it would be great if they could get in touch with Streetcar.

I've had a Streetcar almost every month for the last 4 years and have been very happy with them - especially now there's one at 149 Silverdale!
And I too have just been charged £250 on insurance excess but I did at least know it was while it was signed out to me (some cretin in Ikea car park put a really deep scratch into the driver's door) and it was me that reported the damage.
I don't thank any car club would do anything different and it's a risk you take - it's still a much more convenient system for me than hire cars.

I have removed a couple of posts from this thread that were critical of Street Car.
One had a misleading link to an advertising site and the other had a link to something that has been removed and to an unattributable blog. As they both, at best, added nothing to the debate and circumstantially were suspicious so they are now gone. Apologies if I got it wrong and, of course, people should check the reviews of any company they entrust their bank accounts to.
