Health Query - Flu Like Symptoms

Post by The Clown »

Hi

Its taking all I have to write this, so common sense replies only please.

Does anybody have experience of a virus going round at the moment?
I was feeling ok earlier but noticed that I had a worsening rash over the last few days. I popped into the pharmacy earlier and they said its most likely a result of them cutting back so much foliage at the moment as they had all had similar skin complaints.

I went away happy but have come home sick as I feel incredibly fluey - really hot then really cold and totally wiped out.

I feel nasuseus and my stomach is churning but nothing is err.... happening.

Anybody aware of anything going around. Dragging myself to the doctors feels like Mission IMpossible.

Thanks
Cx

Forgot to mention feeling incredibly thirsty as well.
That's likely to return as we now have movement of the up and out variety.

Maybe ring the surgery for advice - if they feel you should be seen they can book you in.

I'm in day 9 of having what I can only describe as the worst flu I've ever had, we have all been ill at home. I was so bad last Thursday that I rang the doctor out of hours who advised me to call an ambulance and go to hospital. I am a lot better than I was but I was delirious at one point. The flu symptoms were totally untreatable and there was nothing I could do but wait for it to run its course. I'm much better now but it has developed in to a chest infection which I'm now taking antibiotics for.

My advise would be to drink plenty of water and make sure you eat something, I had soups which helped but you have to suffer it and let it run its course sadly. If you are a sporty fit person you wont have to endure it for as long as a person who isn't as fit so be prepared for the flu like symptoms to last between 5 and 10 days.

Best wishes for speedy recovery. Have not caught yet but could be because I have flu injection in November , or maybe not

@mikecg - sorry to hear your whole family have suffered. You are definitely right about hydration. I have found that taking electrolyte powders has made no end of difference.

@Eagle - thanks for your well wishes. Strangely I had the flu jab. Must be mutating...

Made it to the sofa today - that's progress!

In defence of the flu jab (point of note) - I was back at work this morning and my day has just drawn to a close.
