there is an interesting comment on that site about opening the tunnel and track as a cycle route. If the tunnels aren't too far gone it seems like a good idea to me. They did it on a section of the old Ilfracombe to Barnstaple railway (I used to walk along this all the time growing up, it was great) after someone ran off with all the money raised to reopen the line as a private enterprise in the early 1970's and it was turned into a large factory.
It seems a shame such incredible achievements, beautiful ones at that, are left to rot.

The bats in the tunnel prevent it being open to the public.
