Thinking of moving to Peak Hill Gardens

Post by jannine »

Hello everyone,im thinking of moving to Peak Hill Gardens and need honest opinions of the area please.I hate moving as it is and am a bit of a chicken when it comes to new areas.I have twins in reception due to go up to yr1 in September, and my daughter is in yr6..My older son is 12 and has just started high school. So any info about the local schools would be so good.Ive looked online at pictures etc and its looks lovely .
Thank you for any help

It's right next to the station, so there'll be a lot of traffic (human and cars) until the early hours - especially on the weekend. I think that the Zanzibar club empties out onto Peak Hill Gardens when it shuts on Friday and Saturday night, but that's from the forum - I don't have first-hand knowledge of it.

The best boys Secondary school around is Kingsdale Foundation School, which is a 450 bus ride away. Call 0208 670 7575 for info and to see if you are in their catchment area. Elliot Bank school is a very good primary school.

Although it looks like there have been problems for residents of PHG on that thread, I'm not sure that the club does kick out onto Spring Hill/PHG - there is I think a fire exit on that side but the entrance is round on Kirkdale.

Not sure whether the shock expressed was in relation to Sydenham in general or PHG? admittedly PHG probably wouldn't be my first choice due to noise from station and also people hanging round near station entrance etc. Not the whitest street in the world. I wouldn't suggest it is a bad place to live, just not not perfect.

lol Weeble- wars have been started for less. I'm waiting for the first declaration of war due to a faulty sat nav? (Although thinking about it, that's probably already happened.)
