A Talk at Kirkdale Bookshop

Post by thebookshop »

We are very pleased to announce that local author and journalist Matthew Sweet will be coming in on Monday 12th December to talk about his new book 'The West End Front'. Delving into the stories and legends surrouding the hotel industry during World War Two, it is described by Micheal Gatiss as ''delightfully gossipy and often moving, it shines an affectionate search-light on an entirely forgotten chapter of World War II''. Tickets are £4 and early booking is advised.

In other news, this Friday (2nd Dec), as part of the Late Night Shopping, we will be serving wine and mince pies as well as giving a 10% discount on all gifts, cards and books. Open till 9pm, see you then!

I'll try and attend. Have seen Matthew on Newsnight and he's terrific. I also see him from time to time in the school playground while dropping off his daughter though we've only spoken once.

Hope to be there.

I hope to attend as well. The West End Front was recently serialised on Radio 4 and was very good. So much so, that I have been dropping hints to my wife about it being a possible Christmas book.
