Steve Grindlay Talk: Cinemas of South East London : 8th Nov

Post by marymck »

Sydenham Society event: Cinemas of south-east London
Tues Nov 8, 7.45 at the Golden Lion, Sydenham Road. Admission £2
In an illustrated talk, Steve Grindlay will take us into the eight or more cinemas and performance spaces that were once licensed for public entertainment in Sydenham and Forest Hill. In these spaces we will also meet amateur dramatics groups and actors, of both stage and screen, all of whom had strong links with the local area. A repeat of Steve’s sell-out talk at the Kirkdale Bookshop during the 2011 Sydenham Arts Festival.

NON-MEMBERS WELCOME!

I was at his previous talk in Kirkdale bookshop as part of SAF (as mentioned above), and can say that it was a very informative talk, thoroughly enjoyable, and I would recomend it to anyone, even those who think they'd have no interest in old, no longer standing cinemas.
