Francis Rossi on Radio 4 'Saturday Live'

Post by SydenhamStokie »

Francis Rossi from Status Quo was on 'Saturday Live' on Radio 4 today reminiscing about his days at Our Lady and St. Philip Neri School. The odd thing is that he referred to it as being in Forest Hill, rather than Sydenham - perhaps he lived in FH and crossed the border every day to get to school.

You can 'listen again' via http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006qgj4 - his feature is about 12 minutes in.

The Infants part of the school is in Forest Hill, on Mayow Road, and that was the whole school when Rossi went there. The building in Sydenham is the Juniors, so the school is in both SE23 and SE26 now.

My son is at the school and my daughter went too. I called them in to listen and they said, 'Oh, yes, him, he pops in all the time,' and went back to their screens.

Yes Dunlop you are right. I seem to be the same age as Francis and wonder whether he attended Forest Hill Boys , I do not recall him but about 1400 there then.

So he went to our big rivals sludge hill. Forest Hill School's big loss I guess.
Seem to recall Brian Jacks of Judo fame was our most famous old boy but guess there have been many more since.
