Just joined this site so apologies if this post is in the wrong place but having said that - what a great site for information on the Crystal Palace.
Some time ago I came across an image of a motor car from the 1903 Motor Show on the internet and can no longer find it!! It is an automobile pictured within one of the antique courts so the backdrop contains (I think) some statuary but certainly I recall some arches and decorative walls. There are several photos of cars exhibited along the central nave from this date but this particular one was definitely inside one of the Courts.
I would be very grateful if anyone could help!
Many thanks.

Apparently the first ever British motor show was held in the Crystal Palace in 1903! The link will take you to a hateful place (the Daily Mail website) but it has a picture of the type you seek.
The show was the brainchild of Frederick R Simms, who went on to found the Royal Automobile Club (RAC). In 1905 it moved to Olympia.
A respectable 10,000 people attended, even though the car was still a rare sight and few could have afforded one. It was regarded as a spectacle at the cutting edge of technology.
You will find another image here on an other hateful site (The Sun). http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/mo ... tched.html

The motor show has now been axed after 107 years. What a shame.
