Sugahill cafe’s vibrant new exhibition celebrates the wonderful Sydenham International Music Festival
Six local artist and photographers have contributed artwork on a musical theme: four lively “Mariace musicians” performing in a Mexican street; a colourful “African rhythm band” with ladies dancing in bright yellow shoes; a violinist “Rehearsing”; a lovely little etching of “Violas”; a fascinating 360 degree photograph of the “Hop farm festival 2010”; “Betty in blue”- you can almost hear her singing even though she is not quite visible; a silkscreen print inspired by “Milonga, Astor Piazzola” and a moody photograph of a jazz musician in “Washington Square Park”.
Many thanks to Roy Stevens for the kind loan of “African Rhythm Band” by Susan Cox from his collection and to the artists for providing their art: Rebecca J Wilde, Nathan Rendell, Ky Lewis, Susan Cox, Claude Perera and Nick Haseltine.
