Hello,
I am hoping that someone can assist me. I live on Newlands Park and I am getting married up in Oxford in September and I need to locate the most local Church of England Church nearby so that I can make contact with the vicar/church warden to meet and arrange the reading of the bands.
If anyone can help at all I would be most grateful.
Thanks in advance.
Kind Regards,
Tom

I'm sure someone can help, although I can't. I'd just like to offer my congratulations.

If you go on this website you can find out which parish you are in. I went through this process last year and found my parish through this website.
Good luck in September.

The Church of England have a really good web site for this sort of enquiry - http://www.achurchnearyou.com/parishfinder.php?SE26
The only possible downside is that if you live in the parish of All Saints - as you will if you're at the Sydenham Road end of Newlands Park, then you parish may have just gone over to Rome, since it used to be part of 'Forward in Faith' http://www.forwardinfaith.com/resources ... don%20SE26
Fr Orton of this parish may be able to advise ...
Edit - sorry Emzy, you beat me to it!

I think you will find it is the congregation and priest who have 'gone over'. The parish, church and chattels remain in the CoE. In the absence the priest then the best person to approach is the rural dean who will be finding someone to look after the Parish's interests and administer stuff like bans. Vicars from any local CoE church will give you the contact details or give the Diocese of Southwark a call (they are up near Borough Road SE1).Tim Lund wrote:The only possible downside is that if you live in the parish of All Saints - as you will if you're at the Sydenham Road end of Newlands Park, then you parish may have just gone over to Rome, since it used to be part of 'Forward in Faith'
