I have a carrier bag full of old coins that are no longer in circulation.
I have no idea as to their condition or worth.
Can anyone suggest a reputable way for me to exchange this for modern cash ?
I don't want to get ripped-off if there is something of value/significance in there

Don't the Bank of England oversee this kind of thing? Failing that, the only recommendation I can offer is the scrap metal merchants.

More words of wisdom from BBW.
By my reckoning with the current price of scrap metal, I would be better off feeding the coins into cigarette machines and getting much more valuable tobacco.
They is antique stuff, not just just out of circulation. E.g. not QE2s head on then, but other folk.

You could get busy on eBay but it all seems a HoL of messing about to me for items less than much more than £20 each. Listing, paying listing fees, selling and paying more fees or not selling, getting paid and getting payment fees, posting and all the tracking and tracing.

Grrrr just took a look at the second link as a listing was just ending,
Old coins total face value 40-ish new pence ...... brought £3.50 closing bid but it looks as if there's a lot of cushioning in the P&P
