We moved from Brixton to Sydenham 5 weeks ago. So, excited about the Dolphin (our neck of the woods), succesfully navigated our way out of the Sainsburys car park after a few hashed attempts and with street parkng spaces galore often don't take the space outside our house just for the hell of it.
...it's all going very well......is there a catch?

With a £6 annual subscription for 4 quarterly newsletters keeping you up to date with what is going on around Sydenham and the surrounding area it's cheap at half the price!!

Pat - did anything come of the idea of having a 'Welcome Pack' that estate/letting agents could give to new people with info about Sydenham - maybe a free 1st year membership of SS, a rollup of traders with perhaps a special offer or three, other local organisations and even a mention of ST and the Forum?

In a word "no".
With small matters like a 10 day public inquiry into the future plans for Bell Green Sydenham Society's resources ( manpower and particularly funds) have been more than a trifle stretched over the past year.
In an ideal world something along this idea would be a quick way of making newcomers feel welcome. However it would need a prime mover to put in quite a bit of effort so if Admin has time on his hands and would like to start the ball rolling.....

I am not sure Admin has time now he is being diverted into this History thing - but I'm sure he would support it 
But I take your point - we do need a prime mover - preferably with a small seed budget for printing etc. The obvious candidates are the TCM or, perhaps, our councillors who have been a bit quiet since the election. Well done it could give them a nice boost. Or possibly SydSoc itself in the post October 19 world?

Sorry, I hate to lose any opportunity. I'd just like this small piece of information about Sydenham Society (which has a 34 year history) to stay on the Forum for a wee while longer for all newcomers to absorb as opposed to being lost in the discussion (equally important but slightly at a tangent) about welcome packs.
