Steel pan lessons for Children and Adults in South Norwood

Endurance Steel Orchestra will be starting steel pan lessons on Monday 13th September at the Waterside centre 26 Avenue Road, South Norwood, SE25 4DX (the big Victorian house next to the entance to South Norwood Lake) Times as follows
Children (ages 8 - 16) 4.30p.m - 5.30p.m
Adults (16 and over) 7p.m - 8p.m
Cost is £2.50 per person, on a first come first served basis, please pay on entry.
Beginners are very welcome as are those who would like to start playing again, those who show great aptitude would have the opportunity to join the Orchestra and perform at events and competions etc in the future if this is something you would like to do. The ability to read music is not required. We are performing at Thornton Heath Festival this Sunday if you would like to see us play, 12 - 4p.m - Thornton Heath High Street.

This sounds great. I grew up in Trinidad and had plenty of opportunity to learn pan but just didn't have the patience! Maybe my kids will be more interested. What music are you going to be playing this weekend? Any chance of Pan in A Minor??

Hi Claire, that's on our list!!! Should be doing it soon, our musical director is in New York at the moment, he is playing with Adlib for New York Panorama this Saturday, and we just had our second succesful year with Mangrove where some of our musicians, along with Marlon joined them for Panorama here at the start of carnival. Endurance has made great strides in it's first year, we are aiming to grow and would love the opportunity to give more children, young people and adults the chance to learn this beautiful instrument. Maybe you will come along? By the way, a selection from our song list....

Hi there, Just a bump for this thread to update you.... the Childrens lesson age has been reduced to a starting age of six now and there are spaces available on each type of pan at the moment, the adult class has about three spaces left so if you fancy coming along then please do, it's only £2.50 and you can give it a try with no membership to join.Hope to see you there.
