Recommended Vet
I recently took my cats to the Mayow Road Vets and wasn't very happy with the service. Not only did the vet seems disinterested in the animals, the tablets he prescribed have made the problem worse, so can anyone recommend a good vets in the area ?
Lomax are an excellent vet. My most recent dogs were cared for them, especially by Brian at Parish Lane.
My only experience of the Mayoh Rd practice was when I was away on holiday and my dog, being "cared" for at home was allowed out and was run over. They would not treat him until I was able to retun and then he was referred on to the vetinary hospital....
He was treated exeptionally well there.

I would always recomend Lomax esp Brian. My dog had a heart murmor, but he always felt she didn't need treatment for it. She lived till she was almost 16 and it wasn't her heart that failed her in the end, but her legs.
Lomax never give treatment where is not necessary.
I only ever once went to Mayow Road, and was put off my the Porche with Private number plate "Vet 1" or somethinglike that. To me that was a bad sign.

Thought I'd put in a word of support for Mayow Road Surgery. We've trailed cats and, recently, a dog there and always found the service very good. If anything, he likes animals too much and spends ages talking about them, with the result that waiting times tend to run long. His care of our badly injured cat, which had been daft enough to disturb a fox and its cubs, could not have been more caring.
I would like to also say that I am very happy with Mayow Road Vets. I have always used them and find them caring as well as very professional. The young lady vet is my favourite - she is a big time animal lover and makes a fuss of my cats every time we visit. I agree that the guy that owns the place can sometimes talk for England, but a very good, attentive vet.
Just want to add my pennys-worth - I have nothing but praise for the Mayow Road surgery. I highly recommend them. An absolute pleasure to visit. Extremely helpful and polite assistants and I find the 'main man' to be very informative and always happy to advise. I actually look forward to going - but my cats don't!!

We have been using mayow road vets for about 16years for cats and dogs.
the service here i find inpeckable( much better than my spelling) and when our lab was a puppy the owner even took him home with him as he wanted to be sure he was ok after an op. not many vets would offer that service and then come into work on a sunday so we could collect him (AT NO COST I ADD).
Zeta is absolutly devoted and she has many friends who are specialists that she can call on if she wants futher advice.
Mr Rogers (the owner) is a walking excilipiedia of animals and always explains things well (sometimes making the appointments run late).
i have no problem taking my 2 labs here and my moto always is to the vets do what you would do if they were your own, i whole heartly trust them.
The vet nurses get to know all the animals personally and we must have one of the only dogs in the world who gets excited at visiting the vet !!
Mayow no problem
Sorry about the spelling.

I'd highly recommend Wenzel's practice in Gypsy Hill.
The staff are real animal lovers, very experienced and I've never felt they provide anything less than the best service. They can offer homeopathic treatments too if you want.
There's a website www.wenzelvetgroup.com/gypsy.php for anyone wanting to know more about them.

vets and pets
Hello,
Well I'm about to launch concert posters & flyers on all the local vets so I'll be very wary! It's horrid if people aren't gentle when they handle your animals.
Just to update you all with details of an event you might like- so glad to have found local animal lovers & pet owners! If you like wine, song and a good cause, this is your event.
World Animal Day Charity Concert
7:30 pm, 4th October at Christ Church, Highland Road, Gipsy Hill, London SE19
Tickets are £15 and include a glass of wine, nibbles, and an animal-friendly goodie bag.
Online tickets via http://www.alexandracarter.com
I will be singing opera arias and lighter songs accompanied on the accordion by Igor Outkine. Do please come to support the event- it's for Naturewatch Foundation-a fantastic animal charity who promote kindness to animals and protect wildlife, as well as promoting animal-friendly alternatives to cosmetics and other products in their booklet.
It is also for The Goodliffe Hall Regeneration Project which is to redo the dilapidated church hall attached to Christ Church where the concert will be held.
You can now reserve your tickets online & find out more from http://www.alexandracarter.com
Princess Elizabeth de Croy, Pollyanna Pickering and Sean Hughes are coming as well as the mayor of Lambeth.
Hope to see you there!
Best,
Alex
