Home Park Adventure playground?

Post by SydenhamHillAndy »

Hi - can anyone add some information to this? I have been to a couple of council run adventure playgrounds with my kids, but on the lewisham website have just seen one listed. Does anyone know anything more about this? Is it a sort of playground, or more like a youth group hall?

Home Park Adventure Playground
Winchfield Road, Sydenham SE26 5TH
Indoor facilities include football, table tennis, pool, arts and crafts.

Many thanks!

Hi Kirstie,

pretty soon I will be updating the Home Park blog with all the news and pictures of the various things which have, after months and months of hard work, are now finally installed in Home Park.

So it now boasts a fully operational outdoor gym, new outdoor classroom, 5 aside pitches marked in the grass, a community garden and of course the adventure playground.

This has a community room with table tennis, video games, pool table etc. There is the updated and very impressive looking adventure playground (this wasn't 100% finished when I had a look a few days ago, but it's not far off) and a new art space.

The adventure playground is at the top of the park near Winchfield Road.

On the 12th August there will be a family fun day from, 2.00pm which will include food stalls, interactive drama, theatre shows, music and 'The Lab'. The Lab offers the following courses:
Music Production
Game Design
Photography
Web Design

You can see more on this rather impressive looking website:
http://www.rollingsound.co.uk/thelab/about.html

In the evening there will be a filmshow with films made with local young people in Treasure Films workshops, followed by a showing of the animated film 'FANTASTIC MR FOX' which features the voices of George Clooney and Bill Murray.

Here is a link to the trailer (admin, can we embed this video, this seems impossible to do!)

Catch up on all the Home Park news on the Friends of Home Park blog:

(which will be updated in the next day or two).

Got to say the new adventure playground looks great, wish I had access to something like that when I was a kid. Do you think they'll let me have a go? :D

Its open, it's being used and definitely enjoyed by the kids. I wish I had something like this when I that age. It's not totally finished yet, there is a phase 2 that will hopefully see the light of day soon.

The art space sounds interesting. They will teach arts and crafts and cooking.
