Re: Coop/Somerfield
I stand corrected Eagle
Re: Coop/Somerfield
I used The Co-operative for the first time today and loved it. Definitely a step up from Somerfield, more ethical and better quality products.

By that, would it be wrong to assume you took your bag-for-life on your visit to the new Co-operative, Lee?more ethical and better quality products.
I bet you wore sandals aswell.
Re: Coop/Somerfield
Sandles, socks and a wicker basket on the front of an old dutch bike (I'm sure you can extract some comedy from that BBW!)/

I can just picture you dishing out Joss sticks, lentil broth and unfounded wisdom at a Climate Camp, Lee.
You old crusty, you.

Would it relieve any anxiety that is by now undeniably mounting; in the back of your forward thinking, retail progressive mind, if I said: Yes, I have met you?

Or if you have a point to make about the original post, make it and bring the thread back on topic. Threads meander, but they can always be pulled back to the topic if it is one people want to discuss.
Re: Coop/Somerfield
Yes, I agree.
So has anyone tried some Co-operative plums?

Re: Coop/Somerfield
I prefer them to unco-operative plums.
Sorry. *Sigh*. Should have restrained myself.
If you look on the ED forum, they are very unhappy with their new Co-operative, also formerly a Somerfield. Doesn't sound as if they liked it much when it was Somerfield, either, though.

Re: Coop/Somerfield
Well, going back to the topic, I like the new store. The staff were friendly and the products are much better than Somerfield. Plus I like their ethics, which as an organisation are a huge improvement on Somerfield. Looks like I"m easier to please than that East Dulwich lot though. Perhaps they saw green and thought it was Waitrose, or perhaps they only sold cod roe rather than beluga.
I'd love a greater variety on the high street though. Competition is good, but we need something like a Waitrose to fill the gaps. We have a Lidl and the Co-operative and various independents. We have a Tesco on Kirkdale, we don't need another one on the high street, and it would be a metro store which is far more expensive than normal Tesco's (and they have one opposite the Perry Hill pub, on the way to Beckenham on Anerly Hill, they might be taking over the old fire station at the end of Mayow Road...enough is enough.
