We went to a local primary school event last night, to see exhibitions of children's work. They had been looking at local history, particularly Mr Horniman, and Louise House (no link!). There was a challenge set: "what is the link between Kelvin Grove, Panmure Road and Florence Nightingale and the Crystal Palace?"
I am flummoxed, and google is not helping ) Can anyone out there?
Crystal Palace moved to Sydenham, Florence Nightingale went to Crimea - just need something to link Panmure and Kelvin Grove to that year, and you've cracked it.
i am inclined to be thinking along the naming option. The year they were all given their names, perchance ? But the moving location option also seems very tantilising
I'll have a look around the 'net later, but am a bit busy today.
Thanks so much to everyone for all their leads (and interest). I approached the teacher in charge of the evening a couple of days ago, and asked her for enlightenment. She admitted she doesn't know either, the deputy head set the question! As soon as I see DH, I'll beg for the answer, for the sake of all Sydenham Town forumites and put yr minds at rest )
