Hiya.
Just a quick note to tell you about a Charity Organization.
The GB & GoD have been going since 1956.
All monies raised go to make up Christmas food parcels for Pensioners:
We hand them over to the Landlords & Ladies of various Pubs in the SE8/SE26/SE23 areas and they give them to the people they think "most needy" in their Pubs.
Last year we gave out 125 Parcels, costing just shy of £1,600.
If anyone would like to join our little band of Helpers, we meet in the Golden Lion at 11am. On the 1st Sunday of every month.
If you see our tins in any pub (or even if you know of any places where we can place a tin for pennies) please contribute if you can.
Anyone is more than welcome to come along and try to place a little smile on the OAP's lips at xmas.
Thank You.
Paul.

Sorry, haven't got a website.
Its just a few people raising money for OAP's Christmas Parcels.
Joe (The Golden Lion guv'nor) has let us us his pub & back room for meetings and making up the parcels for the last 7 years.
The organization was set up in the Deptford Working Mans Club (In New Cross, next to the Amersham Arms) in 1956.
I only became a member in 1990.
We are now agroup of 7, 3 members live in SE26, 1 in SE23, 1 in Streatham and 2 in Burnt Oak,Edgware.
We have a Walk in August going round:
The Royal George, The Graduate, Royal Standard, Little Crown, Dog & Bell, and The John Evelyn.
We support the John Evelyn Bus Pull event every September.
We sell Raffle tickets and raise money in Tins in all of these Pubs.
It was Based in Deptford, but three quarters of the old Public Houses that the GB's used have been shut down.
Last year Helen (@ The Royal George) raised over £400 for the group.
Joe (@ The Golden Lion) helped us with over £100. (There is aletter of Thanks in all these pubs telling how much was raised).
As I said, In these times where every penny counts, we really appreciate anything people can give.
If anymore information wanted, Please PM me.
Thank you.
