I don't know how new this is but it looks like a useful service for reporting environmental issues such as graffiti, damaged footpaths, abandoned vehicles, rubbish, fly tipping etc.

There are phone apps too that let you send a report using a photo (with GPS info) along with other details.
You can then use the website to check progress on remedial work.
Love Clean Streets
It's fairly new, I think - it's the brainchild of Nigel Tyrell - see posting about it on his blog http://lovelewisham.wordpress.com/
I think it's fantastic. The post I did yesterday about a similar offer from the CTC for potholes differs from this in that it does not have a champion in a senior Council officer - as is Nigel - but is from an outside group. As such, this service is likely to prove a much more useful. It's also good that they offer a developers' API, which means that someone here - myself? - could modify it to our own area. Care to help me with this Admin?
Now - wouldn't it be good if Lewisham Road & Transport and Planning could do something similar?

You can view reports filtered by authority so you can check everything posted for Lewisham. Or were you thinking of something very specific to Sydenham?
I like the fact that you can subscribe to an RSS feed for an area. Can't wait for my daily dose of rubbish and graffiti pics!
I also like the way they post a picture once the problem is sorted so that you can see before and after.
You can also post pictures of parks and landmarks (just for fun). That's a nice positive touch.

Developing apps with the API
Hi Tim,
I am the owner of the company that created this technology, including the api - I would be delighted to help you create an app or web site using it if you are interested. The more apps we get the better!
The api is here http://api.mediaklik.com but the documentation is a bit thin at the moment - there are more capabilities that I can help you with - not least how to post a report
In addition Capital Ambition are planning an event in May (provisionally 24th) in London where I will be speaking about how to develop apps against the api - let me know if you or anyone else would be interested in attending.
Anyway feel free to get in touch (Ian AT bbits.co.uk) if you have any thoughts or questions.
Cheers
Ian
P.S. Access to the API is completely free by the way! No strings!

Yes - I was thinking of something specific to Sydenham. I imagine any number of maps showing issues of local concern with specific locations, with pop up boxes with links that take you to relevant pages. This is what I've done manually with the link I posted elsewhere to recent planning apps. That requires me doing a certain amount of manual inputting - to a Google spreadsheet - and could be improved in various ways - different colour codes for different types of planning application.
With this API, it will be possible to get much closer to what I envisage, so I'll be getting in touch with Ian Blackburn. Question for STFers and Admin - what sort of maps would you want, and where?

I don't know how and whether it's possible to collect this data, either ourselves or from LB Lewisham, but this is what I'd like to see:
I'd like to know how high the levels of pollution are from vehicle emissions along Sydenham Road. This could be compared to levels in other High Streets in Lewisham and the rest of London. I'd like to know where the "Hot Spots" are and whether they're related to where the traffic lights, roundabouts and parking spaces are. I want to know whether one side of the road is healthier to walk up than the other. Surely this would be an interesting study for people using Sydenham Road regularly and the Traders, too.
I've been concerned about pollution levels since my 5 year old developed Asthma and noticed that I too have been feeling more out of breath recently, whilst walking along Sydenham Road. We have been walking up and down Sydenham Road for years daily - on Wednesdays I've calculated that we walk between Queensthorpe Road and Cobbs Corner 10 times!
Data should be collected before and after the Sydenham Road transformation - I'm pretty sure that it will improve as I believe traffic will keep moving at a more steady pace. It will be great for us to prove Sydenham has an improved environment (in terms of collected pollution levels) and might even attract new businesses based on these figures compared to other areas which haven't been proven. It would be practical for Town Planning to pinpoint ideal areas to plant trees, planters and areas to sit.
The question is - are levels already being collected that we aren't aware of or allowed to have access to? How would we get this information? Are Lewisham obliged to collect it at the moment? Isn't there a small box on a post at the corner of Silverdale that could be a monitor?
Crystal Palace Parade and Lewisham/Catford are monitored here:

But I want to see something more local.....
