Free Jazz this Sunday

Post by squig »

Come and chill out this Sunday with good food and lovely music- Alex Carter and Christian Vaughan are playing jazz, swing, a bit of bossa with a little foreign frosting on Sunday... It goes down very well with a pint. Hope to see you there!

NOT at the Golden Lion. Would be nice to know where though and at what time.

Is is going to be like an illegal rave back in the day? We'll all form a convoy in the car park at the back of Somerfield and the organisers can drive in and take us to destinations unknown!?

How exciting!

i fopund this on virtual norwood. I still don't know the pub, but perhaps others can complete the puzzle?

"Relax with a pint and some lovely free jazz on Sunday afternoon 2-4:30, this Sunday 10th January. The Grape and Grain presents free live music every Sunday, and this weekend Vintage Jazz Duo plays jazz, swing, and a little bit of bossa with a light foreign frosting...

Alex Carter, vocals, Christian Vaughan, keyboard. "

Phew!

This is better than doing The Sunday Times crossword. Much more of a mental workout trying to decipher where squig is requesting we decamp to.

I feel like I'm on 'Treasure Hunt'!

Anyway, the Grape and Grain is the old Sportsman on Anerely Hill. I hear [and truly hope] it is much changed since it's previous incarnations!

Dyeing my hair

Post by squig »

Ok that's it! I'm officially having an extended blonde moment. And I'm not even blonde.

The mystery venue, which will be repeated in March- (and this time I'll do a post maybe even a week in advance!) was actually The Grape and Grain up in Crystal Palace- free jazz there every Sunday- and I'm so kicking myself at the moment... Sigh! It was a lovely afternoon, although it would have been all the better for your being there!

I'm just off to dye my hair then. Or fill it with cotton, hay and rags or just sigh repeatedly about my attempts at self promotion!

I'm sorry if you thought I was rubbishing your thread, I wasn't.

I was actually quite interested in your post. By the time we got round to trying to decipher where you meant I couldn't be ar*ed....

I hear good things about the Grape and Grain though, certainly a world away from it's previous incarnations.

SO, I look forward to your next post. I'd love to spend a few leisurely hours listening to good tunes in a bar that serves good beers.

Course, I've never heard you play, but a good spot with good people...and the music appreciation generally follows favourably.

Free live jazz again this Sunday at...

Post by squig »

Well I may as well let you in on it...

It's at The Grape and Grain, Anerley Hill, 7th March this Sunday 2-4:30.

You won't find it on their site which hasn't been updated since Nov last year, but I will be there singing Jazz, Swing & a bit of European flavour.

Love to see you there! Christian Vaughan piano Alex Carter Vocals.
