Waving at Steve

Post by bigbadwolf »

Over the last few weeks I keep seeing Steve Grindley out and about in Forest Hill and Sydenham. Naturally there's nothing untoward in this, it's in his business/nature to be plodding about the parish, but the thought occured to me. Does anybody wave at Steve?

I've started to pioneer this dying art of mutual respect and I'm getting a mixed reaction. My first encounter with the building-lister-in-chief was on Thorpewood Ave. You remember don't you Steve, I was wearing the yellow top. You paused briefly but had a bewildered look about you, as if trapped in my cross hairs. You then shuffled off. Secondly was two days ago when I spotted my quarry outside the old Provender shop. I waved and shouted out the acustomed greeting of: "Oi, Steve, hows it hanging?"
Steve promptly stared at the maddening crowd of school kids on their way home from school, desperately trying to seek out his inquisitor/tormentor. I'd slinked off by then.

I'm going to keep this up until I get a proper reply, and acknowledgement, verbal or otherwise that Steve is safe in the knowledge that he's not being hunted by a psychopath but a fellow STF'er.

So ladies and gentlemen. If for whatever reason you see our local sage out and about. Go up to him and engage him in genial discourse.

I'm sure he'll be happy to oblige. Just don't mention Louise House. It could get messy.

Thanks to my truly rubbish memory for faces, I am sure I appear to ignore STF members on a regular basis - even though I've met a fair few of them.

Obviously, I notice Pat, but she's in a different league. Besides, I don't think she'd let me get away with staring vacantly past her anyway... :)

My dog first met Steve Grindlay in his shower. I understand Steve did a lot of frantic waving in order to get her out.

As for waving to Steve in the street, I think Steve is very focussed and doesn't normally let his attention get distracted by chance encounters.

Perhaps Steve can clarrify

So far I've only met Nasaroc, Mr Ben, Pat Trembath and Tim Lund campaigning in regards of awareness for the coming regeneration of the High Street. DigitalFX at a bus stop on Westwood hill and Mikecg in the East Dulwich Tavern.

I've yet to formally force myself upon the veritable Grindles. Your time will come though Steve, your time will come.
