Oh I'm THERE. Their mushroom burger is a thing of beauty (and I'm not even vegetarian).

Have added my vote too, however I suspect we are a little too close to the Lordship Lane branch for them to consider it. Maybe we should harangue one of the other high-end burger chains (or all of them):

Hamburger Union - couldn't find a website strangely
Fine Burger Company - http://www.fineburger.co.uk/
Some other ones I can't think of at the moment....

I have also filled in the 'where shall we open next?' form.

However, won't they have to compete against Wimpy?

We've got ourselves a god-damn gbk movement going on here people!

I've added my endorsement of a Sydenham branch too.

Willy: Hamburger Union seem to favour prime central London. I have been to the Leicester Sq branch which was the original and then they branched out to Tottenham Court Road and lately Islington. In the past year (I can't bring myself to frequent McDonalds) I've been to all 3 and they are shockingly bad now! Which was a shame as the one in Leicester Sq was really good initially.

AliB...you're joking right? Wimpy and Gourmet Burger Kitchen are about as far apart as you can get. I'm talking Dunhill Vs George@ASDA disparity here.

Vote. In.

That's a shame, I used to work in Islington and was a regular customer and always enjoyed them.

Done.
I love Gourmet Burgers ... often in the one in Lordship La and had a tasty one in Cov Garden area last week. That would be a v welcome addition to the high st.

Actually have had some nice evenings in Sydders High St recently .. simply cannot go wrong with Gurkhas (sp?) and actually had a great night in that Tex Mex place last saturday night. It was packed but no 'rowdiness' Went there for a bit of fun but it was brilliant ... really good service .. big portions and a nice atmosphere. Not normally my sort of place but they've made an effort and if you fancy a 'fun' meal it's worth it ... followed by some beers in the Dolphin .. fine evening I could walk home from ...

The next person to 'suggest why' on their website might like to include a link back to this thread. You never know!

Brilliant idea :D

I have just replied!

While we are 'in the mood' ;) can anyone think of anyone else we can email/write to. I have emailed Waitrose in the past?

Some good toy shops:
Soup Dragon: http://www.soup-dragon.co.uk/contact_us ... pvnodecgb3

Just Williams: info@justwilliamstoys.com

Blackbird bakery (I know we have the cake shop, but not my kind of cakes really):
http://www.southlondonguide.co.uk/eastd ... ckbird.htm

Moxons fish shop:
http://www.moxonsfreshfish.com (no email address, but might be able to send them a missive, the old-fashioned way)

William Rose:
http://www.williamrosebutchers.com/index.html (no email address listed)

Gift shops: such as ED in Northcross Road (can not find email address)

Some clothes or shoe shops (even Clarks would be good)
http://www.clarks.co.uk/contactus

A good art shop (the stationers near Somerfield does some, but a specialist would be good, I know there used to be one, but that was years ago)

A music shop (there are so many musicians living in Sydenham!!!)

Not sure how realistic these are, but any alternatives might be worth a try.

yes you're right poppy. I tried to buy some sausages the other day and absent mindedly asked for some in the butchers. Was never going to happen. They had some nice meats and were polite enough but I felt a bit alienated. And .. so off I went to Borough Market. Mind you - knock out sausages were purchased. And how convenient is Borough Market to Sydenham - 15 mins and my friend and I were one of the world's best food markets? Anyway .. that's not the point. The point is, I guess, local residents shouldn't have to go elsewhere for nice stuff all the time. I might as well go and live in Wigan*

And there are loads of musicians in Sydenham ... why is that? There's always someone traipsing around with a cello or violin case.

*oops hope nobody here is from Wigan

There is another GBK in Beckenham, so we are surrounded.
Nevertheless it is worth us trying.

There is also a very good specialist sausage shop in Beckenham - no need to go up to Borough.

Unless you go everywhere by car (and I choose not to own one) Beckenham is not very convenient. There's no way of getting there by train and there is only the highly irregular 194 that goes there [?]. Otherwise it's a 45min walk each way...which I occasionally do.

Or in 15 minutes you're in L. Bridge and into the best foodie market in the UK, if not the world. Plus they do a bit more than just sausages...

No contest I'm afraid mikej.
